Mirach's Ghost is a elliptical galaxy located approximately 10 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Andromeda. Its coordinates in the sky are right ascension 17.363° and declination 35.718°, and it is catalogued in the New General Catalogue (NGC).

The light reaching Earth from Mirach's Ghost today left the galaxy roughly 10 million years ago. What you see in telescope imagery is a snapshot of the galaxy as it appeared before most of Earth’s mammalian history.
