NGC 5033 is a spiral galaxy located approximately 40 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Canes Venatici. Its coordinates in the sky are right ascension 198.365° and declination 36.594°, and it is catalogued in the New General Catalogue (NGC).

The light reaching Earth from NGC 5033 today left the galaxy roughly 40 million years ago. What you see in telescope imagery is a snapshot of the galaxy as it appeared before most of Earth’s mammalian history.
